Name:pavaneofstars
Birthdate:May 10
Location:United States
I am a musician, pianist, teacher, performer. I enjoy reading, the outdoors, and counted-cross stitch. I enjoy meeting new people on the internet.

My name "pavaneofstars" reflects my interests in music and scifi. It's a phrase I found in one of Madeleine L'Engle's books (author of A Wrinkle in Time and A Swiftly Tilting Planet). Sadly, I can't remember which one of her books I read it in (it was many, many moons ago). I do remember that the story was about a young woman studying piano and in one scene of the book, she is gazing up at the night sky and described it as "a pavane of stars."

A "pavane" is a processional dance common in Europe during the 16th century. It is generally an improvised dance for one couple, with the dancers throwing in ornamentation (divisions) of the steps. The term "pavane" can also be used to describe the music composed for the dance.
